I’m diligent about taking my dog for a walk every evening, and I play with him for a while in the evenings when I get home from work. Still, I can’t help but feel that I’ve neglected him somewhat. Even worse, it’s become apparent that he’s regressed in terms of obedience. He tugs incessantly on the leash and occasionally ignores my commands completely. Something has got to give.
A friend clued me in about the benefits of agility training, saying that the experience forges a stronger bond between pet and master. It’s also supposed to reinforce dog obedience lessons; dog and owner must maintain a high degree of communication and understanding throughout the course of an agility contest, so the dog has no choice but to obey.
